Engaging

Dawn Bush

To open up and engage with others is fundamental to living, so fundamental that an absence of interaction affects the brain’s physical structure.

A rich flow of exchange and meaningful interaction is necessary for our wellbeing.

That takes being open, which does not mean accepting everything anyone else comes out with, but starting from the assumption that others mean well and that if they think differently from us, it doesn’t mean they want to destroy our world.

When we are thoughtfully open, we can grow through interaction, explore different perspectives and ideas, arrive at new syntheses and experience the deep satisfaction of growing together.

There is a lightness and an underlying recognition of common humanity in this that makes it delightful.

Worth cultivating, perhaps?
